Solution to Hunt: The Journey of Charity

The following is the solution for the hunt. Enjoy!

Clue #1

Clue #1 was a preamble that discussed what you had to look for across the sites you visited.

Clue #2

From the clue, we gave you a couple of options of where to look at the Children's Aid Foundation website. In this case, you should have searched the volunteer area and you would have found "moving by foot".

This earned you the secret info a@(4,b) but we haven't told you what to do with it - at least not yet.

Clue #3

This clue told you that the words you found in clue #2 could be used as a hint on where to look at Reach for the Rainbow. Moving by foot...hmmm...how about "Walk a Mile in my Shoe"? If you searched that page, you would have found "quest".

This earned you the secret info i@(2,c)

Clue #4

Applying the same approach from clue #3, you should have used the text you just found as a hint to where you should look at My First Wheels. So, using the text "Quest", what could that mean? If you were on a quest, some could say you were on a mission... Searching their mission page, you would have found "petri dish".

This earned you the secret info g@(3,d)

Clue #5

Petri Dish? Maybe a tough word association but we were looking for "culture". Searching the Schools without Borders website, if you had looked in "Values and Culture", you would have found "wear a pencil".

This earned you the secret info b@(5,e)

Clue #6

At the Pencils for Kids website, if you were observant, you should have noticed that on the main page, there was what looks like a pencil on a necklace. That's how you could "wear a pencil". Clicking that link would have led you to "three raises".

This earned you the secret info v@(1,a)

Clue #7

This clue was a little different. This time we didn't hide an image for you to find. At Students Offering Support, we asked you to find a reference to "three raises". In this case, we were looking for "marks, money and roofs".

This earned you the secret info c@(3,a)

Clue #8

This time we gave you an easy clue. We mentioned the show "Making a Difference" on Global TV. If you found the news article at the Centre for Dreams website, you would have found "brainstorm".

This earned you the secret info r@(4,d)

Clue #9

Following the pattern from before, you should have then looked for something related to "brain storm" at Well of Change. If you're brainstorming, you are trying to generate ideas. You should have found "goods and" on their "Need Ideas?" page.

This earned you the secret info o@(1,d)

Clue #10

Goods and what you may ask? What goes with goods? Services of course. If you went to the Bonnie Lui Events "Services" page, you would have found "off the menu".

This earned you the secret info g@(5,a)

Clue #11

This one should have been pretty easy. If you're ordering "off the menu", you're ordering "a la carte". When you visited the Puzzle Creations website, and searched the "a la carte" page, you would have found "attache case".

This earned you the secret info e@(2,e)

Clue #12

Next up, you were asked to search Pie Videography website and you're looking for an attache case. Another name for attache case is a portfolio. And there just happens to be a portfolio on the website. Searching that area would have produced a sneakily hidden image. You were looking for "in the trees".

This earned you the secret info g@(2,b)

Clue #13

At this point, you have received eleven pieces of secret info. This clue tells you what to do with it. You now have to plug in the letters you received into the 5x5 chess board at the locations. A finalized chess board should look like:

Clue #14

For those not familiar with chess, clue #14 showed you how a knight moves on a chess board. You were now told to choose a starting square and to move as a knight to find the solution to the puzzle. For observant people, you should have noticed that there was an exclamation point ! that gave you a hint on where to end up.

Clue #15

For those that got stuck, this clue told you to start at (5,a), the topleft corner of the puzzle board.

Clue #16

Still stuck? This clue told you that each square is used exactly once other than (3,c) which is never visited.

Solution

For those that stuck with it, if you start at the topleft corner and work your way around the puzzle board counter-clockwise, you should find the solution is "giving back just got easier!".
