Solution to Hunt: Bare Essentials for the Holidays

The following is the solution for the hunt. Enjoy !

Clue #1

When you visited Wes Misener's website, you had to notice that the garments are made with 50% "bamboo".

Clue #2

Finding the reference to "cheat" at April Poppe's website was tricky. You had to notice that the quotes kept changing and eventually a definition would come up for "cheat". "Sometimes it pays to cheat = just do what you're good at and pass the hassle on to a specialist." In this case, you were looking for the word "specialist".

Clue #3

Over at the Bitway website, you first had to find the brochure, then in their prescribed process, you had to note that "Test" is the second step.

Clue #4

I first found out about FLAP when I met two volunteers early in the morning this fall. They were rescuing birds that had flown into the glass at Metro Hall. You had to note that "rehabilitation" is the longest word in their mission statement.

Clue #5

The Daily Bread food bank is always looking for donations of food and it is a very worthy cause. The most needed item is "Baby formula & food".

Clue #6

When you visited the Clean Air Partnership you had to find "groundbreaking".

Clue #7

The Scott Mission was started by Morris and Annie "Zeidman".

Clue #8

Peregrines are remarkable and can occasionally be seen in downtown Toronto. Visiting The Canadian Peregrine Foundation, you had to find out that they are part of the "raptor" species.

Clue #9

Once you had all the words from clues 1 through 8, you then had to make a puzzle similar to the one in clue 9.

Clue #10 through Clue #12

These three clues told you to take various letters from the words you saved and place them in the 5x5 puzzle board. You should have something identical to the image below:

If this isn't what you have, you must have made a mistake.

Clue #13

You now know the starting position is C5. The image below shows you the path from 1 to 24! to solve the puzzle.

Following the path, you should have got "onefifteenkingstreeteast!" when translated to English gets you:

Ever been there? If so, you would have found The Toronto Sculpture garden. At the time of this event, there was a sculpture of bears called "Bear Hunt". See below:

Clue #14

By now, you should have figured out the play on words in the title of the event. Bare=Bear? So taking a picture of the bears or of the sculpture garden were all ok. The point was to make you aware of something that you may have overlooked... even though overlooking some life-sized orange acid bears seems unlikely...

Clue #15

If you were stuck on the puzzle, this clue told you that the puzzle translated to a physical address.
