Solution to Hunt: Financial District

The following is the solution for the hunt. Enjoy!

Clue #1

Awesome, an easy clue right out of the gate. If you look to the end of the street, most people will recognize the bell tower at Old City Hall. Even if you didn't know the cross street, you should realize this photo was taken facing north somewhere on Bay Street. A little bit more sleuthing should have you conclude that this was taken from the north crosswalk at Bay and King.

Clue #2

Yikes this one is tough unless you work nearby. There is a railing directly in front of the picture taker and you can see some kind of courtyard with some trees and funky lights. Most we are guessing would have to wait until clue #4 to figure out where this is.

Clue #3

Oh good, an easy one again. If you looked at the street sign you should have made out that you're on King Street. But what is the intersecting street? If you look way down the street, you might recognize the Gardiner Expressway. From there you should be able to deduce that this picture was taken from the north crosswalk of Yonge Street and King Street.

Clue #4

Three words italicized: "place", "field" and "brook". Not too hard to figure out the picture in clue #2 was taken in the Garden Court at Brookfield Place accessible on the north side of Front Street between Bay Street and Yonge Street.

Clue #5

Hmmm. A diamond lane sign. Not much to go on here.

Clue #6

"The Gambler" is a song. It is also a novel written by Fyodor Dostoevsky. This is clearly relevant to this hunt, isn't it?

Clue #7

Puppies? Kittens? Even if you didn't know immediately, a quick Google search should have told you that a diamond is a girl's best friend. So the diamond is relevant from the sign in clue #5 but you probably don't know why yet.

Clue #8

Ok, so it wasn't the novel (of course it wasn't). Let's sing together:

You got to know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em, know when to walk away, know when to run...?

So clearly, you need to run away?

Clue #9

Oh, of course. Basic origami involves folding. Finally "The Gambler" reference makes sense. But fold what?

Clue #10

Kangaroos and tennis both have courts. But you know this already.

Clue #11

Now it's time to plot the three spots you know and try to figure out where the fourth spot is. The picture below shows a triangle and by folding along each edge, you can see that there are 3 possible places that the fourth point of the diamond could be.

Clue #12

This clue reminds you that the bounds of the playing field for this event are Bay Street on the west, Yonge on the east, Front Street on the south and Richmond Street on the north.

You now should notice that only one of the three "possible" points is within the bounds of the playing field.

What you seek is found on the west side of the Cloud Garden which is between Richmond Street and Temperance just west of Yonge Street.

The photo below show the light in question along the west path and that was worth $100.00!
