Solution to Hunt: City Hall - X marks the spot

The following is the solution for the hunt. Enjoy !

Clue #1

Even if you've never heard of the South African War Memorial before, a simple search will tell you where it is. Now that you know it is at University and Queen Street West, you had to go to the west side of the memorial and see that "CAPE COLONY" was the top province.

Clue #2

The sign below is what you were looking for. The 5th word of the last sentence was "OSGOODE"

Clue #3

Hmmm. Where is that? Well, if clue #1 was about war, then you are looking for a garden associated with the opposite of war. You're looking for the Peace Garden. Once you find the Peace Garden, and the sundial, the third last word is "OPPORTUNITY".

Clue #4

Who knew there was a labyrinth in the middle of Toronto? This should have been fairly easy to find. It is west of the Eaton's Centre and just south the Church of the Holy Trinity. Once there, you had to record the first sentence: "This labyrinth pattern is based on the eleven-circuit labyrinth constructed at the Chartres Cathedral in France completed in the 13th century."

Clue #5

Using your answer from clue #1 (CAPE COLONY), take the second word (COLONY), drop the first and last letters (C and Y) and unscramble the remaining letters "OLON" to spell an animal "LOON"

Clue #6

Using your answer from clue #2 (OSGOODE), discard 2 letters. There was an extra hint in the clue, "DO" your best, told you to throw away the "D" and an "O". Using the remaining letters, spell an animal: "GOOSE".

Clue #7

Hmmm. Find a type of fish in the word "OPPORTUNITY". You're looking for "TROUT".

Clue #8

This was likely the hardest one so far as it was error prone. Below we have capitalized the letters you needed:

this laByrinth pattErn is bAsed on the eleVen-circuit labyrinth constructed at thE chaRtres cathedral in france completed in the 13th century.

Those letters spell the word "BEAVER".

Clue #9

Now it isn't by accident that we have these four animals. If you know anything about Nathan Phillips Square, there are many stairwells to parking underneath. Each stairwell is associated with an animal. The following image shows you the stairwells. This picture was taken at "Trout".

After you found the four stairwells, you then had to draw two lines from "LOON" to "TROUT" and from "GOOSE" to "BEAVER". Hey, the two lines crossed... and made an "X". Hey, "X" marks the spot.

Clue #10

This vital clue told you what you were looking for where the two lines crossed. In this case, it is the closest animal (stairwell). See the picture below:

That stairwell was "DEER" and that was worth $100.
